    ode to joy

im a mets fan. in 2002 we got roberto alomar, mo vaughn and roger cedeno, and we were supposed to be great. expectations were through the roof. the mets started off 17-10, which would have put them on pace for 102 wins. of course we didnt even win 80. we didnt even win a home game in the month of august.

when you live and die with your team, every strikeout, every error, every loss, causes an unbelievable pain. its unhealthy. and yet you raise your hopes, thinking that this year will be different.

2003 was more of the same. we signed tom glavine and were finally going to beat the braves.....the pitching staff allowed 14 runs on opening day.  in 2004 we lost 90 games.

the thing is that every year i get my hopes up. its not like im a pirates or brewers or devil rays fan where i expect losing. Every year the mets sign or trade for what appears to be the best players, and yet they lose in maddening fashion.  every year.

in the words of bill simmons aka "the sports guy":

"For the most part, it sucks to be a sports fan. It's a one-way street. Tickets cost too much. Jerseys cost too much. Executives and owners screw up our teams. Players let us down again and again."

and yet im still a fan.
i think that a persons sports allegiances can tell you alot about their personalities.

    Lets Go Mets 2006!

  • its been a while since iv posted, but dire circumstances have arisen. I feel like im gonna get flamed, and nobody likes a good flambe better than me. mmmm...flambe
so i didnt realize that people actually read web journals. i guess it makes sense that people with no lives would try to live vicariously through others

so the mets arent doing terrible. thats a good sign. once reyes and floyd come off the DL, we shud be fine.
only 7 more days of school- yes! now if only my teachers would learn the english lanugage so i can understand what they say.
id rather watch family guy anyway. Or scrubs.
i gotta design a "mock" website for Annette. that should be oodles of fun. research paper due tomorow i havent started.

hopefully one day i can look back on this page and laugh.

...all this time you were pretending. So much for my happy ending

u know thats exciting. ( even thought the phillies, rather than the mets, will end the braves streak this year- does that make anyone happy? i think the vote is split on that)
